Have you ever considered what goes on in the ground beneath your feet? Few people have, although the reality is that there are vast numbers of underground cavities and sites, many of which go unnoticed or have been forgotten.


Not only has nature created caverns and labyrinthine systems, man has persistently penetrated the terra firma also, with mines, refuges, defence installations, railways, ice houses, grottoes and a whole plethora of underground structures.
